〈白夜蛋〉
每日早餐一顆白煮蛋,是女兒——彌的日常。在彌兩歲第一次體驗茶葉蛋後,就被它的鹹香夠味所俘虜,隔天一早,彌指著桌上的水煮蛋一臉認真地的說:
「爸爸這是你的白葉(夜?Ya?)蛋」
小孩剛開始學說話的時候,文字還沒有意義,都是不同的音調組合罷了——大致相同的發音應該就是一樣的東西吧!反正差不多的詞拼在一起意思應該差不多吧~!好像一列火車,只要能串再一起,不管每節車廂上面載的是甚麼,先發車就對了 。
所以彌常常不經意就說出些莫名好笑的詞和問題,好讚。
像是「恐龍舞獅」、「摩天鵝」、「恭喜發芽」、「高樓大象」等等(花式嫁接)
「檳榔樹」,他很冰嗎?
「浣熊」,他很晚睡覺嗎?
「非洲人」,他會飛走嗎?
「Reebok」跟蝸牛的殼一樣嗎?
這樣一次次童言童語的小意外,都是微小的撞擊,輕輕的撞裂早已固化的語言和意義,滲入了些許新鮮的汁液。我們互為滷包和蛋,希望在這泡在一起的日子裡,雖然難免有些裂痕,但最後都能擁有美麗的紋路。

女兒出生後偶爾會做些小玩意兒給她玩玩,常常是利用工作後剩餘的材料東拼西湊,怎樣看著有趣就怎麼做了。
一次跟著網路上的影片,利用蛋盒的一角做了一個鳥頭面具,做完後有點意猶未盡,我開始觀察這蛋盒,翻來轉去,上看下看,發現那些原本用來防止雞蛋碰撞受傷的結構,拋開功能性後都是很美妙的曲線與造型呢。後來又順著蛋盒因材施作,陸陸續續做了很多。
這次展出的多是幫小孩做的玩具為主,其中「綠頭鴨木馬」是多年前,好友群裡第一個誕生的小孩的週歲禮物。「恐龍尾巴」是某年好友們小孩的聖誕禮物,此時小孩已擴充到5隻,「恐龍尾巴」也計畫在近期內開始販售。「飛鼠」、「蝸牛」是女兒一歲和兩歲時的萬聖節裝扮。
Midnight Sun
A boiled egg every morning — that’s Mi’s daily ritual.
Ever since she had her first eggs boiled with tea bags at age two, she was completely won over by its salty, aromatic flavor.
The very next morning, she pointed earnestly at the boiled egg on the table and said:
“Daddy, this is your bái yè dàn.”
When children are just learning to speak, words don’t yet have fixed meanings(actually is chá yè dàn). They’re just playful combinations of sound — as long as they sound similar, they must mean the same thing, right? If the pieces sort of fit, the sentence must sort of make sense. It’s like a train: as long as you can hook the cars together, it doesn’t really matter what each car is carrying. Just roll with it.
So Mi often comes up with hilariously strange phrases and questions — and they’re brilliant.
Each of these little verbal accidents is a tiny impact — gently cracking the hardened shell of fixed language and meaning. And through those cracks, something fresh seeps in.
We are like the spice bag and the egg in a braised stew — steeped together. Even if there are a few cracks along the way, may they become beautiful marbled lines in the end.
Toys Made for Mi
Since Mi was born, I’ve occasionally made little toys for her — cobbled together from leftover materials after work. I don’t plan them too carefully. If it looks fun, I make it.
One time, following an online video, I turned a corner of an egg carton into a bird mask.
After finishing, I wasn’t quite done. I kept turning the egg carton around, looking at it from different angles, and I started noticing the elegant curves and forms hidden in its structure — shapes originally designed just to protect eggs from breaking.
Freed from its function, the egg carton was full of possibilities.
So I kept going — making more and more things, all inspired by what the material seemed to want to become.
Most of the works in this exhibition are toys I made for children.
The Mallard was a first-birthday gift for the first child born in our friend group.
The Dinosaur Tail was a Christmas gift one year when the kids in our circle had grown to five. (The dinosaur tail will also be available for sale soon.)
The Flying Squirrel and Snail were Halloween costumes for Mi when she turned one and two, respectively.

吳祥溢
1987 出生於屏東,現居台北
2011 畢業於 國立臺北藝術大學美術系
“有趣”是大部分創作的關鍵詞。喜歡把物件挪做他用,賦予各種可能。 太太向人介紹時都說 :「他都在做些有的沒的東西。」
Wu Hsiang-Yi
Born in 1987 in Pingtung, currently based in Taipei. Graduated in 2011 from the Department of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts.
"Interesting" is the key word in most of his creations. He enjoys repurposing objects, giving them new and unexpected possibilities.
When introducing him to others, his wife often says, “He’s always making all sorts of random stuff.”
